Why name it KIMS-USHALAKSHMI Centre for Breast Diseases?
Dr. Ushalakshmi is a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a colleague & a friend when she was diagnosed with early breast cancer in 2002. To honour & applaud her strength in the fight against Cancer, the Breast Centre at KIMS has her name attached to it.
Do Specialist Centres Improve Breast Cancer Care?
There is robust evidence from around the world that improved outcomes for breast cancer, as well as benign (non-cancer) breast health issues, can be achieved when specialists with a declared interest and training in breast diseases manage these patients in dedicated comprehensive centres.
