Breast Screening

Early detection of breast cancer saves lives. Breast Screening by way of Mammography (X- ray of the breasts) is an effective proven way of detecting breast cancer early many years before the lady or the doctor can feel the lump in the breast

Since inception, we have been at the forefront in creating awareness about this very important fact through a number of innovative initiatives. Breast Screening is recommended annually (once every year or at least once in two years) for women 40 years and over.

FAQ: Breast Screening

What Is Breast Screening?

Breast screening (mammography) is a special X-ray of the breasts that can detect cancer at an early stage, often before any lump can be seen or felt by you or your doctor.

Breast screening helps detect changes early—often before a lump can be felt. Early detection saves lives by allowing simpler and more effective treatment

Some women may find the procedure uncomfortable, and a few may experience pain. However, with the latest-generation 3D mammography at the Breast Centre in KIMS Hospitals, the pressure applied and radiation dose are significantly lower—so any discomfort is usually minimal and short-lived.

Early detection offers the best chance of successful treatment. Our easy-to-understand booklets and app, developed by the Ushalakshmi Breast Cancer Foundation in partnership with Breast Cancer Now (UK), empower women to stay informed, feel better prepared, and remain in control throughout their treatment journey.
